We will review multi-scale imaging methods for skeletal tissues and inter-method comparisons and cross-correlations, focusing on osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, osteomalacia and hormonal and exercise-related influences in man and experimental animals. The methods used include light microscopy, 3D light microscopy, polarised light microscopy, confocal scanning light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy using both secondary and backscattered electrons and flat and 3D samples, and X-ray microtomography. This was an invited lecture [Conferencia Magistral] to the Spanish Society for Bone and Mineral Research
